This is probably one of the most fun wine tasting environments on Long Island.

We drove up to the farmhouse tasting room and walked through what felt more like a mix of a fair or festival outside with live music, tons of seating, an outdoor wine tasting area with a Wine-A-Rita “slushy” frozen drink machine, and jewelry, gifts and hot food for sale, including Merlot Meatballs.

Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard Tasting Room

Tasting Room at Baiting Hollow Farm VineyardSituated inside the farmhouse, the tasting room consisted of a large room with a small bar and bar table seating throughout the entire first floor. Wine tastings are purchased as tickets, so you can choose to taste only one and then purchase a full glass.

Our first choice was White Satin, a crisp, dry blend of the BHFV white wines, my tasting partner opted for a full glass of this as I continued on my tasting journey. Next was the Reisling, followed by dessert wines, Cheval Bleu, delicious and port-like, and Sweet Isis, a thick white ice wine, like a Gewurztraminer.

We made our way outside to the live music area and grabbed a cup of sweet and yummy Merlot Meatballs, similar to bourbon chicken in flavor, and I had the Wine-A-Rita, a frozen drink made from White Merlot, which tasted like fruit punch, which is dangerous, as I couldn’t even taste the alcohol in it!

Great atmosphere, great wine and food, and a flexible tasting menu. We’re definitely going back!
